About the Project

Building stronger rural and coastal communities.

Vanuatu is one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change. The nation is made up of mountainous volcanic islands with steep catchments and narrow coastal plains.

Communities are already living with rising air and sea temperatures, rising sea levels, flooding, droughts, coastal erosion, and tropical cyclones.

From gardens to reefs, communities depend on the land and sea every day. VCCRP supports local solutions that respect kastom knowledge, community leadership, and the real needs of rural families.

Most people throughout the islands depend on subsistence agriculture and fishing. These lifelines are being severely impacted by climate change induced rainfall patterns, droughts, and sea-level rise.
